DUPPY CONQUERORS is a radio series exploring the history of the Maroon communities who formed in the Jamaican mountains and rainforests. The earliest Maroons were Africans and Tainos who escaped enslavement by the Spanish and English armies in 1655. Maroon communities also defended themselves against domination from the European empires. This series is led by world-renowned Maroon expert, Dr. Michael Siva, and DTA’s Connie Bell.
